Our client is seeking a Quality Assistant to join their small Quality Assurance and Compliance team in Kettering.
About The Department
The Quality department currently consists of a small group of individuals. With overall responsibility for implementing and maintaining the Quality systems in place within the Group and operate at all levels of and areas within the business. They are also supported by several systems coordinators within their testing departments.
They operate 2 formal quality management systems within the business, EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 and EN ISO/IEC 17065: 2012 with corporate procedures that cover all areas including those not directly within the scope of our formal Management systems.
The EN ISO/IE 17025: 2017 activities include testing of a wide range of consumer goods and personal protective equipment which requires a quality system to support and underpin the services we offer to our customers. This includes the calibration of a large range of specialised equipment, and we are now in need of a person to assist in ensuring that this meet the requirements of EN ISO/IE 17025: 2017.
About The Role
As a quality assistant you will be responsible for a range of activities including:
Review and validation of existing calibration procedures used for the internal calibration of a range of equipment used by the companys testing teams. This will involve ensuring that the procedure covers all requirements and specifications for the standards that an item of equipment is used for as well as proving validation data.
Creation of uncertainty of measurement budgets for equipment and test methods.
Checking acceptance criteria for externally calibrated equipment.
Coordination of proficiency testing for internal calibration activities undertaken by the company.
Creation of validation data for software used as part of internal calibration activities, this would mainly consist of validating excel workbooks used for calculations and data input and where formula is used.
Assisting with internal audits and reviewing flexible scope applications.
Collation and analysis of monthly statistics.
Coordination of and taking part in UKAS visits and extension to scope activities.
Training in all aspects of the role will be provided when required.
About You
You will be a patient, self-motivated, methodical person, with a meticulous eye for detail, good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
To be successful in this role you must have a good understanding of statistics, maths and a general understanding of physics and you will need to demonstrate a very high level of competency in Word and Excel. Previous transferable experience may be considered.
Experience of producing documents in accordance with an internal Quality Management System and/or experience with working in a testing or calibration laboratory would be a distinct advantage.
