Behaviour & Engagement Leader

Salary: 35,000 - 45,000
Location: Northamptonshire
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent (8:30 - 17:00, based in-school)

An alternative provision school is seeking a proactive and empathetic Behaviour & Engagement Leader to build positive behaviour, resilience, and engagement, ensuring every student thrives in a supportive environment.



The Organisation

The school is a national, alternative education provider with 13 independent OFSTED-regulated secondary schools across England. Based in Thrapston, this school offers small class sizes and bespoke support to help students reintegrate into mainstream education or transition into further learning or employment.



Role Responsibilities

  • Lead behaviour strategies and establish high expectations for student conduct across the school.

  • Design and oversee engagement programmes to support students who are disengaged or have behavioural challenges.

  • Work with staff to implement pastoral support systems and restorative practices.

  • Monitor student behaviour data, setting targets and interventions to improve attendance, conduct, and wellbeing.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (teachers, pastoral, safeguarding) to coordinate holistic support.

  • Provide mentoring and coaching for staff around behaviour management and engagement techniques.



Essential Requirements

  • Experience leading behaviour or pastoral teams in an educational setting.

  • Proven track record of improving student behaviour and engagement.

  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including SEND Code of Practice, safeguarding, GDPR.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work creatively and adaptively when solving problems.

  • Child-centred and inclusive approach.
