Marble Talent Group is actively seeing a Property Maintnenace Engineer to work for our client on a permanent basis, located in Tilbury, Essex.

  • 40 hour week
  • Driving Licence - Essential
  • DBS Required

Job Purpose

To provide general maintenance, repair, and improvement services across a range of properties and facilities, ensuring that all buildings and services remain safe, operational, and in good condition. The role covers a variety of disciplines including basic plumbing, electrical, joinery, and general building maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake general property maintenance and repair tasks, both planned and reactive.
  • Carry out basic plumbing work such as repairing leaks, replacing taps, unblocking drains, and maintaining sanitary ware.
  • Perform minor electrical work including replacing light fittings, switches, sockets, and fuses.
  • Conduct basic carpentry and joinery tasks, such as repairing doors, locks, and fittings.
  • Carry out painting, decorating, and basic plastering as required.
  • Perform routine inspections of properties to identify defects or maintenance needs.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
  • Support external contractors when required and ensure works comply with company standards.
  • Follow Health & Safety regulations and risk assessments at all times.
  • Drive company vehicles when required to attend multiple sites.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in general property or building maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve common maintenance issues independently.
  • Good practical skills across multiple trades.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety in maintenance work.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Recognised qualification in a relevant trade (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2+ in Electrical, Plumbing, or Building Maintenance).
  • Experience working in commercial or multi-site environments.
  • Awareness of building compliance (e.g., fire safety, legionella, PAT testing).
  • Basic IT skills for maintenance reporting or work order systems.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily site-based across multiple locations.
  • Work may involve lifting, working at height, or confined spaces (with appropriate training).
  • Some on-call, out-of-hours, or weekend work may be required.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
