Job Title: Technical Sales / Applications Engineer
Location: Tiverton, Devon
Salary: Up to £34,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, Office-based
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (typically 8:30am – 5:00pm)

Are you a technically minded engineer with a passion for solving problems and supporting customers?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Sales / Applications Engineer to join a well-established engineering team in Tiverton. This role is ideal for someone with a mechanical engineering background, strong CAD skills, and a desire to combine technical knowledge with customer interaction.

The Role:

As a Technical Sales / Applications Engineer, you will:

• Work directly with customers to understand their technical needs and recommend suitable product solutions.
• Provide technical support and guidance through phone, email, and video conferencing tools like Teams or Zoom.
• Prepare costings, quotations, and technical drawings to support project proposals.
• Design mechanical assemblies including linear systems, gantries, and aluminium frameworks using SolidWorks (or similar 3D CAD software).
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth order processing and accurate documentation.
• Handle multiple enquiries simultaneously, managing your time and priorities effectively.

What We’re Looking For:

• Qualifications: Ideally HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering, but strong CAD skills and relevant experience will be considered.
• Software Skills: Proficient in SolidWorks (or similar 3D CAD), Microsoft Office, and confident using ERP/CRM systems (e.g., Syspro and Sugar CRM – training provided).
• Communication: Excellent telephone manner, email communication skills, and confidence in video calls.
• Organisation: Strong time management skills and ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
