Paint Prepper

Location - Marden, Kent

Salary - £31,433.64

Hours - Either 6.30-15.30 or 7.30-16.30, Monday - Friday

Responsibilities for the role of Paint Prepper:

  • To prepare fabricated parts for wet painting including drilling, fettling, filling, sanding, shot blasting, sealing, washing, cleaning degreasing and masking of components
  • Using power tools for drilling, grinding and sanding component surfaces in line with Scarab processes
  • Masking of threads and bores to protect from shot blast damage and paint ingress
  • Handling these components through the blast equipment to achieve a good surface finish and high cleanliness level ready to accept the paint
  • Hanging components in an efficient manner for priming and painting
  • Unloading components and packing for delivery to production areas and stores ensuring the paint finish is not damaged
  • Day to day monitoring of the blast profiles
  • Daily cleaning of prep area
  • To take personal responsibility for the PPE issued and ensure it is kept in good condition at all times
  • To clean and carry out regular preventative maintenance tasks on the shot blast
  • Daily and weekly 5s and housekeeping duties
  • To comply at all times with the companies H&S policy and to ensure that all work is carried out in line with the relevant Risk Assessments
  • To adhere to the Company’s environmental policies and legal duties, specifically control of emissions, management of solvents and the disposal and recycling of waste products

Skills and Experiencefor the role of Paint Prepper:

  • Excellent attention to detail and able to visually inspect each component as it is being prepared
  • Able to work to high quality standards
  • Good hand eye coordination
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly
  • The ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Good time management
