About the Technical Manager job

Reporting to Head of Operations, the purpose of your role will be to oversee all aspects of Quality, Compliance, Specifications, and New Product Development. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining their BRC accreditation and upholding exceptional standards in food safety, legality and hygiene. You’ll ensure not just compliance, but continual improvement—exceeding customer expectations and regulatory requirements wherever possible.

Key tasks

• Ensure compliance and audit readiness for BRC, HACCP etc and internal standards through audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement.
• Manage technical and food safety processes, including procedure development, non-compliance follow-up, supplier approvals, and NPD-related tasks like specifications and artwork.
• Support and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to enhance food safety, technical compliance, and supplier performance, including on-site visits and partnerships.
• Oversee systems and reporting, including web-based customer systems, KPI tracking, internal audits, and travel for supplier oversight both in the UK and internationally.

About You

• Our client is looking for someone that has 5+ years in a similar role with a degree in Food Science or related field: A rising star looking to progress into a Technical Manager role would be considered.
• Knowledge of food safety, BRC, auditing, food processing, and quality management; as well as being detail orientated and proactive with a flexible approach to their working day.

More details

• The Technical Manager job (ref:8900) is paying £45,000 - £50,000 according to your experience.
• The site is based near Tonbridge, Kent and is commutable from Hastings, Ashford, Dartford, Redhill and surrounding towns in Sussex and Kent.
• The package includes 25 Days holiday, staff discounts, bonus.
• The working hours are 37.5 hours per week, worked as 7.5 hours a day from Monday to Friday.
