About the Junior Buyer job
The purpose of your role will be to place purchase orders effectively, plan accurate deliveries of raw materials to multiple sites ensuring these are to a timely manner and meet the customers’ demands and take management of the supply chain.
Key tasks
- Liaise with Planning, Sales and Production teams to facilitate effective demand planning whilst considering warehousing limitation as well as sourcing and approving new raw materials and suppliers.
- Seeking the best possible price and service with suppliers, identify new suppliers whilst improving purchasing methods and driving down external spend. Develop and maintain external relationships with key suppliers.
- Efficiently problem solve to improve working processes and procedures.
- Build and maintain a good working relationship with the warehouse team to ensure delivery targets are achieved.
About You
The successful candidate should have a proven record of developing supplier relationships, managing vendor performance and lead times as a Material Planner or Junior Buyer in the manufacturing industry. You should have a demand and forecasting background as well as production planning and purchasing of ingredients.
- Strong business acumen and commercial awareness and excellent negotiating skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- The ability to work unaided and as part of a team across multiple departments.
- A keen eye for detail with strong strategic planning and organization skills.

The Junior Buyer job is based in Kent and is paying £38,000 - £40,000 according to your experience.
The package includes life assurance, private GP, EAP, employer 5.5% pension contributions when you contribute 5%. There is also the opportunity to do CIPS after an initial proving period.
The working hours are Monday to Friday, office hours.
