The college are now seeking enthusiastic and caring Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join our team, supporting students with additional learning needs to achieve success both in and out of the classroom.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support to students aged 16-19 (and occasionally adult learners). You'll help to remove barriers to learning and ensure that all students have equal opportunities to succeed.

This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about education, inclusion, and making a difference in young people's lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class and 1:1 support for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Assist students in developing study skills, independence, and confidence.
  • Adapt and clarify lesson materials to meet individual learning needs.
  • Support students with physical or communication needs, as required.
  • Liaise with teaching staff, the SEN team, and external professionals to ensure effective support.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and recording of student progress and wellbeing.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and respectful learning environment.

Person Specification

  • Enthusiastic, patient, and committed to supporting young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience supporting learners with special educational needs (SEN) or additional learning needs (ALN) desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning, or equivalent) preferred, though training will be provided.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
