HR Adviser| Torpoint, Cornwall | Part-Time | ÂŁ24,401 per annum, based on 25 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Tamar Bridge & Torpoint Ferry Joint Committee seek to appoint an HR Adviser to assist the HR Manager in the people function at Tamar Crossings.

You will support effective change and innovation, modernising practices and employee wellbeing and engagement at Tamar Crossings, to work towards Tamar 2050. This is a supporting role in a unique, multi-site environment.

Are you the right person for the job?

  • CIPD level 5, equivalent experience or willing to work towards
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Highly methodical approach to work in order to ensure that reactive and proactive HR initiatives make a positive contribution
  • Attention to detail, specifically around formal documentation, legal notes, report writing, and data entry
  • Extensive use of IT equipment and systems, including the Microsoft Office suite and electronic records
  • Significant experience in handling complex employee relations matters
  • Experience of working in a complex governance environment
  • Significant experience in undertaking the full recruitment cycle, inclusive of job description development, advertising, interviewing, offer and induction
  • In depth knowledge of current and emerging employment law

What will your role look like?

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment cycle, including advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, and onboarding
  • Provide probationary advice and guidance to managers and new hires
  • Offer comprehensive HR advice, coaching, and guidance on a wide range of people and employee relations matters
  • Administer and maintain the HR system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records
  • Participate in the development and updating of HR policies and procedures
  • Collaborate closely with the HR Manager on the organisation's long-term people strategy
  • Deliver training workshops to managers and employees, sharing up-to-date employment law knowledge
  • Act as the main point of contact for employee relations issues, providing advice on discipline, grievance, capability, absence, flexible working, and redundancy
  • Accurately record notes during meetings and prepare detailed formal HR documentation
  • Use coaching and mentoring skills to guide employees on best practices, expected behaviours, and the organisation's values
  • Build strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation
  • Influence decision-making processes through sound HR advice and professional judgment
