Food & Beverage Manager: Lead the Experience at The Grand Hotel, Torquay

What You'll Be Doing: Key Responsibilities

As the F&B Manager, you will be thecentral pillarof our food and beverage offering, overseeing everything from guest satisfaction to financial performance.

Leadership & Development

  • Inspire and mentorall F&B staff and managers, fostering a high-performance culture through effective coaching and dedicated departmental training.
  • Ensure flawless operational standardsby establishing, monitoring, and maintaining exceptional customer service across all outlets.
  • Act as a visible and welcomingmanagement presenceon the floor, enhancing the guest experience.
  • Effectivelydelegateworkload and manage supervisory/management cover to guarantee smooth, continuous operations.

Financial & Operational Excellence

  • Takefull control and accountabilityfor the day-to-day F&B operations, ensuring the smooth running and overall profitability of the hotel.
  • Maintain strict departmental controlsover key metrics, including liquor and food cost of sales, and payroll management.
  • Oversee and verify all purchasing, stock, sales, and cash handling controls.Conduct regular inventory checks on all key assets (crockery, cutlery, glassware, etc.).
  • Ensure all staff files are meticulously monitored in collaboration with the HR department.

Strategy & Product Innovation

  • Actively develop and evolvethe F&B product in close collaboration with the Head Chef, ensuring we stay current and competitive.
  • Drive sales and revenue growthby proactively identifying new opportunities, particularly by working closely with the Conference Office and Group Sales teams.
  • Stayup-to-dateon competitor offerings and industry trends to position The Grand Hotel as a market leader.
  • Monitor and implement relevantlegislationand best practices as required.

Guest Experience & Safety

  • Create a consistently welcoming and comfortable environmentfor all our guests.
  • Handle all customer feedbackboth verbal and writtenbyresponding to complaintsswiftly and professionally within the set time frame.
  • Maintain asafe and secure environmentby overseeing risk assessments across all F&B and associated departments.

  • Proven F&B Management Experience:Significant track record in a similar senior role.
  • Financial Acumen:Demonstrated ability to manage personnel and meet ambitious financial targets.
  • Trend Awareness:Up-to-date knowledge of current food and beverage trends and best practices.
  • Guest-Centric Focus:Highly service-minded with a natural orientation toward exceeding guest expectations.
  • Exceptional Skills:Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
