Must be able to cover when needed on the following shift patterns –

Monday – Friday –

And Sat/Sun –

Band 2 - £12.21 per hour Monday– Friday

£17.22 per hour on Saturdays and £22.34 on Sundays

We’re looking for Waste Team Operatives to join our dedicated Workplace team and help to provide a comprehensive, 7-day waste collection service across all waste streams at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.

You’ll play a crucial role in maintaining safe and hygienic healthcare environments. Working as part of a supportive, values-driven team you’ll be part of an organisation committed to improving lives and providing outstanding care to our patients, staff and visitors.

*THIS AN AD HOC ROLE COVERING GAPS IN THE ROTA - Must have a clean UK manual driving licence*

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and manage waste across Trust sites, including clinical, anatomical, and general waste.
  • Ensure safe disposal and adherence to health and safety and COSHH regulations.
  • Support colleagues and help train new staff.
  • Maintain equipment, vehicles, and the cleanliness of work areas.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies, spillages, and other challenging situations.
  • Occasionally assist with litter picking, gritting, and snow clearance.

Skills Required:

  • Full UK driving licence (manual).
  • Must be comfortable driving 3.5tonne Luton van (Training will be given)
  • Experience working with the public and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Physically capable of lifting, pushing, and walking distances.
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality service in line with our Trust values.

Please note successful applicants are required to supply their own safety boots for this role.
