We are seeking a PrototypeEngineer to support with build and verification of new and revalidated products. This is a new role for a growing team with a respected manufacturer in the Thame area.

This position offers training opportunities in the daily duties of the role for candidates demonstrating core skills and a capability to learn.


The Prototype Engineer Role:

You will be assigned works orders with manufacturing drawings, a full BOM and functional specifications to facilitate the build of a prototype assemblies You will liaise directly with purchasing to ensure parts are procured in line with specification and with the design team to clarify any engineering issues. You will then utilise workshop hand tools to build and perform basic testing upon the prototype assemblies.

  • From technical drawings and CAD data you will build and assemble products.
  • Devise and build work holding bracketry to enable testing to be completed.
  • You will carry out internal testing processes on electro-mechanical products to the required regulations. (training on testing)
  • Information gathered from prototype builds will be reported effectively to the Engineering team to continue development.
  • Whilst primarily based from the Thame manufacturing facility you will, on occasion be required to attend external test houses in Europe to assist with assembly modification during test runs. (Approximately once a quarter)


The SuccessfulPrototype Engineer Candidate:

  • Strong understanding and practical ability with mechanical systems
  • Experience with a wide range of workshop hand tools.
  • Confident reading mechanical engineering drawings and building to drawings.
  • Willingness and flexibility for infrequent travel nationally and internationally when required
  • Full UK Driving licence
  • Engineering qualifications, experience with lathes and Milling machines and an ability to manipulate CAD models (View) are all advantageous but not essential.
