A well-established and values-led organisation in South Cumbria is looking for a Human Resources Manager to lead HR operations across multiple UK sites. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join a business with strong heritage and an exciting future.
The Role:
You'll be the lead HR contact on-site, reporting into the UK Head of HR, and will manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle-from attracting top talent and supporting line managers, through to driving performance and managing change initiatives. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering the people strategy while championing a culture of engagement, performance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead HR operations across sites, covering ER, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and benefits.

Support line managers with HR queries, providing first-line advice and escalating complex issues appropriately.

Manage high-volume recruitment campaigns, including interview processes, inductions and new starter onboarding.

Drive and support employee relations casework including investigations, disciplinaries and absence management.

Coach and develop managers to improve capability in areas like objective setting, performance reviews, and handling people issues.

Line manage the HR Administrator and oversee HR documentation and records.

Maintain and report on key people metrics (e.g. turnover, absence, training, recruitment) for internal reporting.

Contribute to policy development and wider HR project work aligned to business priorities.

Ensure accurate processing of changes for payroll and employee data.

Support with wellbeing, engagement, and community events.
About You:

Proven experience as an HR Manager or Senior HR Generalist, ideally in manufacturing, engineering or similar.

Sound understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.

Confident handling complex ER matters and supporting operational managers.

Comfortable managing a busy and varied workload, including high-volume recruitment.

A strong team player with a hands-on, can-do attitude.

Experience of workforce planning and aligning people strategy with production needs is a bonus.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.

CIPD qualified (or equivalent experience).
