Role Overview
An established building services consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will be qualified to HNC/HND level (or degree/chartered status) with proven experience in the UK construction industry, delivering HVAC design from concept through to project completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical building services design activities from feasibility through to commissioning.
- Undertake site surveys, full design development, technical reporting, and attendance at design team meetings.
- Collaborate effectively with project leadership and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Carry out site inspections and support project delivery across all stages.
- Engage confidently with clients and stakeholders in both meetings and presentations.
Experience & Skills Required
- Experience designing HVAC systems within sectors such as commercial, distribution, retail, and residential.
- Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
- Strong understanding of Building Regulations (including Part L) and low-carbon engineering principles.
- General knowledge of wider MEP disciplines, BREEAM, and sustainability considerations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
- Competent user of Word and Excel; proficiency in AutoCAD essential.
- Experience with Revit beneficial.
- Familiarity with design software such as Hevacomp, OpenBuildings, or similar.
- Professional and well-presented, with strong English language skills.
