PMLD Specialist Lecturer - Uxbridge

We are working alongside an Outstanding Specialist College (Ofsted, November 2019) in Uxbridge offering life-changing learning opportunities to young people and adults with a range of special education needs and/or disabilities.

Students who study with the college have a wide range of needs including profound and multiple learning disabilities, communication and behavioural difficulties and specific medical needs. All students are individual and their learning programme is designed to support and empower them to achieve their aspirations and goals, whilst developing skills to become more independent members of their community.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative Lecturer, who specialises in PMLD, to join our dedicated and welcoming team. As a Lecturer, you will plan differentiated work to meet the needs of individuals and groups promoting progression and quality of learning by having clear intentions for our students learning. You should be able to accurately access need, deliver teaching reflective of need and measure progress with a determination to positively impact on the lives of our pupils. Lessons are carefully planned and take into account the needs, interests and abilities of all students so that learning is more purposeful and engaging.

To be considered for this role as a Lecturer, you will have or be working towards a Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent, and recent experience with students with special needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effective planning of teaching/learning within designated curriculum areas.
  • Implementing appropriate assessment, objective setting, recording, reporting and evaluation of educational programmes
  • Ensuring that student learning experiences are organised in a progression which supports the development of the individual.
  • To demonstrate a commitment to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Ensuring that equipment/materials required for teaching/learning are safe and appropriate.
  • Responsibility for the identification and ordering of equipment within curriculum area budget.

Requirements:

  • Preferably have QTS
  • Either live in Hillingdon or within a commutable distance
  • Have previous experience as a Lecturer though not essential
  • Taught SEN children previously
  • Have taught children with PMLD
