Housing Revenues & Charges Officer

Contract: 6 weeks office-based, then hybrid (3 days in office)

Function: Housing Revenues & Charges – rents, service charges, major works invoicing.

Role Purpose

Support the Housing Revenue Account by accurately applying and amending charges, ensuring timely income collection. Maintain and update the Northgate housing database, process Universal Credit verifications, and manage Direct Debits, Standing Orders, and other payment methods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Open, close, and amend rent, leaseholder, and service charge accounts.
  • Process Direct Debits, Standing Orders, refunds, and reconciliations.
  • Manage Universal Credit verification requests and liaise with DWP/Job Centres.
  • Respond to resident, solicitor, and bank enquiries.
  • Maintain accurate records, produce financial reports, and ensure compliance.
  • Support the Rent Collection & Arrears Recovery team to prevent arrears.
  • Administer TeleCareline and Tenant Contents Insurance accounts.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in housing revenues, service charges, or social housing finance.
  • Strong knowledge of Direct Debits, payment systems, and reconciliations.
  • Proficient in Excel, housing management systems (Northgate), and data handling.
  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritise workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of Universal Credit processes.
