Our client is seeking an HR and Compliance Officer to serve as the first point of contact for all HR matters within our school. This role involves providing routine advice and guidance on operational terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with HR policies and processes, and managing a range of HR processes including recruitment, selection, and support for disciplinary and performance processes.

Working 39 weeks a year, 37.5 hours per week.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Provide operational advice and guidance on all HR policies and procedures to senior leaders and staff, ensuring robust implementation of key HR processes.
  • Ensure updates on relevant legislation and regulations are communicated effectively to all relevant parties.
  • Manage the diary for all policy reviews and maintain the school policy portfolio.
  • Oversee recruitment and selection processes, including job advertisements, interview organisation, and ensuring compliance with current legislation.
  • Handle the processing of new appointments and changes to existing contracts, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed and compliant for audit purposes.
  • Coordinate and conduct staff inductions and monitor probation processes for new starters.
  • Maintain the Single Central Record (SCR) to ensure compliance with regulatory guidance.
  • Provide advice on operational HR issues and support the management of staff attendance and punctuality.
  • Manage HR review meetings alongside senior leaders and the school's external HR service provider.
  • Maintain and implement HR procedures for the systematic management of records in accordance with GDPR.
  • To be responsible for all School Data Returns. Run and submit school Census returns within the deadlines assigned by DfE and DOW ensuring all data on the returns is correct.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in HR within an educational or similar setting.
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes and legal compliance in recruitment and employment.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information sensitively.
  • Proficient in HR systems and data management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
