The CAD Engineer/CAD Technician jobs themselves working within the Mechanical Engineering team where you will be responsible for producing and maintaining, product definition information (PDI) including 3D models, product manufacturing information (PMI) as well as detail, and assembly engineering drawings, that are commercially viable and suitable to manufacture against and without ambiguity.

This will involve effective workload planning, generation of BOM structures and change management activities, as well as tolerance and mass analysis, are also required to support the development of the design/s. As is the necessity to work effectively and communicate well with internal and external customers to achieve the optimum design definition through in-depth consultation with all project stakeholders.As a CAD Engineer you will be working effectively across, and incorporating, a wide range of products, support and testing equipment, textiles and technologies. These may be mechanical components, machined and fabricated, as well as electronic/electrical, pyrotechnics, mechanisms and machines.

To be successful as CAD Engineer/CAD Technician, you will have a good mix of the following:

  • Engineering or an applicable science-based degree.
  • OR Engineering HND and relevant industry experience.
  • 3D CAD software for model and part definition information generation.
  • Material and process selection.
  • Rudimentary hand calculation for initial part sizing.
  • Tolerance and clearance analysis.
  • Committed to the highest standards.
  • Have an eye for detail and getting things right.
