We are seeking a dedicated and skilled HLTA to join a nurturing and forward-thinking SEN school in Hillingdon this September. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a collaborative, specialist team committed to unlocking the potential of every learner.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
- Lead and support classroom learning across a range of age groups (EYFS to KS4)
- Deliver small-group and individual interventions designed to meet specific communication, social, emotional, and sensory needs
- Use PECS, Makaton, and other visual communication tools to support understanding and expression
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the SENCO to deliver a personalised and accessible curriculum
- Guide a team of Teaching Assistants and contribute to a positive, structured classroom environment
- Foster independence, life skills, and positive outcomes for all students
Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds HLTA status or has significant experience in SEN settings
- Has proven experience supporting pupils with autism, speech and language difficulties, and complex needs
- Is confident using PECS, Makaton, visual schedules, and sensory strategies
- Demonstrates a calm, empathetic approach and strong behaviour management skills
- Can adapt quickly, work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and take initiative when needed
