About the Role:
One of my local goverment clientsis seeking an experienced and proactive Housing Advice / Homelessness Assessment Officer to join its Housing Options Service. This is a fast-paced and challenging role, ideal for professionals who thrive under pressure and are committed to preventing homelessness and supporting vulnerable residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver frontline housing advice and homelessness prevention services.

  • Complete comprehensive housing assessments under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

  • Undertake prevention and relief casework, with a focus on sustainable housing solutions.

  • Manage a varied caseload effectively, meeting statutory deadlines.

  • Carry out detailed homelessness enquiries and issue Section 184 decision letters.

  • Contribute to the Housing Options Duty Service as part of a rota.

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong working knowledge of homelessness legislation, including the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act.

  • Proven experience working in a Housing Options or Homelessness Prevention role within a local authority setting.

  • Competence in completing assessments, managing cases, and issuing legal decisions.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-demand environment.

  • Excellent communication, report writing, and IT skills.

  • A commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for vulnerable residents.
