Location: Cornwall, Wadebridge
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: 70,000 - 80,000 per annum + annual bonus
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
Requirement: Must hold a valid driving licence

About the Role

Our client, a leading industrial group, is seeking an experienced Foundry Plant Director to oversee the operational, industrial, and managerial leadership of their site. Acting as the local representative of the Group, the successful candidate will ensure performance, safety, quality, and profitability while driving operational excellence and implementing the organisation's industrial strategy.



Key Responsibilities

Operational & Industrial Management

  • Lead and supervise all production activities, including planning, scheduling, and process control
  • Guarantee product quality and compliance with client requirements across sectors such as marine, aerospace, and construction
  • Oversee maintenance operations for furnaces, moulds, and foundry equipment
  • Optimise material and energy efficiency, reduce scrap rates and non-conformities
  • Deploy and monitor continuous improvement programmes (5S, Lean, SMED, Kaizen)

Team Leadership & HR Management

  • Manage and coordinate production, maintenance, quality, logistics, and administrative teams
  • Set clear objectives and motivate teams towards performance and accountability
  • Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with HSE and labour regulations
  • Support recruitment, training, and development to strengthen skills and engagement

Financial & Performance Management

  • Build and monitor the site's budget, including sales, margins, production costs, and inventory
  • Develop pricing strategies and offers
  • Identify and implement actions to improve profitability and productivity
  • Provide accurate and transparent reporting to Group management

Strategy & Business Development

  • Contribute to the site's industrial and investment plan
  • Support Group strategic initiatives, including inter-site synergies and technical know-how transfer
  • Represent the company with clients, suppliers, technical partners, and local authorities
  • Identify new technologies, materials, and process innovations to strengthen competitiveness


Candidate Profile

Experience:

  • Minimum 8-10 years in heavy industry, ideally in foundry or metal transformation
  • Proven experience in team leadership and profit-centre management

Core Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of casting and metallurgical processes (lead, cast iron, aluminium, or special alloys)
  • Solid understanding of quality, safety, maintenance, and production optimisation
  • Financial and analytical mindset with a focus on operational results
  • Recognised leadership, decision-making, and communication skills
  • Hands-on and pragmatic approach
  • Fluent in English; French would be advantageous
