Are you currently keeping a look out for a new Financial Controller role?Are you a solid people manager who enjoys coaching and developing a team?Are you technically strong as well and commercially focused with a passion for building relationships and driving a business forward?I am delighted to now be recruiting a Financial Controller position for a highly acquisitive growing group of companies based in Wakefield!Reporting to (and deputising for when needed) the Finance Director, you will be number 2 in finance overseeing the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting and partnering with the executive management team and functional areas to identify and execute on strategic initiatives.The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the day to day financial operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting along with business partnering with the senior management team and assisting with planning strategy.The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) technically strong FM/FC with experience of managing a finance team and a high level of financial acumen with the ability to analyse complex financial data to support decision making.Reporting to the Finance Director the key  duties will include:
  • Develop and manage the overall financial strategy for the organisation in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support key business decisions and identify areas of improvement.
  • Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the group
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting activities
  • Manage financial accounting, monitor and report on financial performance, and advise executive management on financial risks and opportunities.
  • Work closely with department heads to develop accurate budgets and ensure alignment with strategic objectives
  • Provide oversight and direction to ensure that all financial operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including tax and treasury issues.
  • Effectively manage cost and working capital to optimise cash generation.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including investors, lenders, and auditors.
  • Provide leadership and manage a finance team to deliver high-quality financial services across the business to ensure continuous improvement, development and team effectiveness.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Assist with financial due diligence and M&A activities.
The successful candidate will:
  • Be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with a 5 years experience (minimum) within senior finance roles - Essential
  • Have strong business acumen and ability to balance operational and financial goals - Essential
  • Be able to communicate and build relationships across all levels and area of an organisation - Essential
  • Have the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy - Essential
