We're seeking an experienced and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant for a full-time position in a specialist school located in the Pontefract WF7 area. This role is ideal for someone with prior experience in a SEND setting and who ideally holds Moving and Handling certification.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with complex SEND needs, including ASD, SEMH and physical disabilities.

• Assist with personal care routines, ensuring dignity and safety at all times.

• Support learning activities under the direction of the class teacher and contribute to lesson delivery.

• Implement and review behaviour strategies and individual education plans (IEPs).

• Facilitate communication and social interaction, promoting independence and self-esteem.

• Ensure safeguarding policies are followed rigorously at all times.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Proven experience supporting children or young adults in a specialist SEND setting.

• Moving and Handling training is highly desirable.

• A good standard of written and spoken English.

• Ability to remain calm, patient and resourceful in challenging situations.

• A team player with a strong sense of empathy, respect and professionalism.

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one via Randstad).
