Futures Recruitment is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join a specialist, low-volume, high-value manufacturing business. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with an industry-leading organisation that designs and manufactures all products in-house.

You’ll bring expertise in industrial/product design and an eye for aesthetics, contributing to innovative and high-quality solutions. With a strong order book and an exciting period of growth ahead, this is a role where your skills will directly shape the company’s continued success.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical fit and compatibility checks on designs.

• Collaborate with production to design jigs, fixtures, and tooling, overseeing their manufacture.

• Ensure all products are optimised for ease of manufacture and assembly.

• Assess components using datasheet information, approving them through relevant testing.

• Build and test prototypes, documenting design validation thoroughly.

• Provide hands-on technical support to production teams, addressing day-to-day design, performance, and quality challenges.

Skills & Qualifications

• Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD modelling (SolidWorks preferred, but not essential).

• Strong understanding of metal manufacturing processes (castings, sheet metal, extrusions, etc.).

• Experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on design for manufacture and testing.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
