Our client, a well-respected and reputable recognised membership body in the local government and public sector is currently looking for Membership Manager.

The Role

To manage the implementation of the Membership Strategy and the staff involved in the processes and procedures for recruiting, retaining and promoting the benefits of membership.

Key Responsibilities

Support the development and implementation of the Membership Strategy for recruiting and retaining members at all levels.

Develop alongside the Marketing team recruitment campaigns around national and regional events and activities designed to promote growth in membership.

Maintain accurate information on the CRM system about membership numbers and member

To manage an annual budget for membership activity and work with Finance to ensure activity is kept within budget.

To produce monthly and annual progress reports on membership targets and the outcomes of recruitment campaigns and produce management board information as requested.

To interpret membership recruitment and retention statistics and review member survey research and make recommendations about future campaign strategies.

To line manage staff responsible for the delivery of the membership services, promote team building and conduct staff appraisals.

To develop and maintain excellent relationships with all regional branches, attending strategy meetings to showcase the full spectrum of support can offer.

Person Specification

Good knowledge of marketing, management, administration, planning, budgeting, finance, market research.

Good understanding of the priorities and objectives of and a good understanding of the external environment in which operates and the key audiences it works with.

Experience

Experience of running successful marketing /recruitment campaigns.

Experience of having worked within a member organisation.

Experience of establishing systems, processes and strategy in a membership body context.

Experience of line management, staff supervision, motivation of staff and allocation of tasks and resources.

Experience of setting up, managing and monitoring budgets.

Skills & Abilities

Member relationship management skills and techniques.

Excellent relationship building and customer care skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels including Chief Executives and senior managers.

Excellent communications skills with the ability to produce effective and persuasive material in a number of formats, for a variety of communication channels, including social media.

Ability to prioritise work and to meet deadlines to tight timescales.

Excellent organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to establish, maintain and manage office systems and procedures.

Ability to work flexibly on an individual basis and as a member of a team.

Excellent IT skills with ability to use all main IT packages including CRM systems.

A professional manner and attitude.

Able to remain calm under pressure.

Able to adapt to change.

Able to travel.

Able to attend events and other off-site functions as required.
