Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for a Leaving Care Personal Advisor to join Wakefield Council's Leaving Care Team on an initial 3 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personalised Support: Provide one-to-one guidance, practical assistance, and emotional support to care leavers.
  • Needs Assessment: Support ongoing assessments to ensure care plans remain tailored and effective.
  • Pathway Planning: Contribute to and maintain Pathway Plans that guide young people toward independence.
  • Access to Resources: Assist young people in accessing education, training, housing, employment, and healthcare.
  • Empowerment & Advocacy: Encourage informed decision-making, self-advocacy, and ownership of their future.
  • Transition Support: Help young people navigate the shift from adolescence to adulthood, promoting independence.

Essential Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (must be clearly stated on the CV)
  • Knowledge:
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by young people transitioning to adulthood
  • Familiarity with the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and related legislation
  • Awareness of safeguarding principles and procedures
  • Experience:
  • Recent experience (paid or voluntary) working with care leavers or vulnerable young people
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies
