Job Description:

Liquid Personnel is recruiting a Senior Social Worker for its client's Locality Safeguarding Team based in Normanton and Featherstone. This pivotal role within Children's Services involves delivering high-quality social work practice to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

The successful candidate will lead on complex cases, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute to a reflective and supportive team environment. Collaboration with children, families, and multi-agency partners will be essential to ensure timely and effective interventions.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Manage a caseload of complex and high-risk cases, including Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), Public Law Outline (PLO), and court proceedings.
  • Provide mentorship and support to less experienced social workers and contribute to their professional development.
  • Undertake statutory assessments, develop and review child protection and care plans, and ensure all interventions are child-focused and outcome-driven.
  • Chair and lead multi-agency meetings, including strategy discussions and core groups, ensuring effective information sharing and planning.
  • Maintain high standards of recording, analysis, and decision-making in line with legislation, policy, and best practice.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to deliver coordinated safeguarding responses.
  • Contribute to service development, including quality assurance activities, audits, and reflective practice sessions.
  • Promote and model Wakefield Council's values, behaviours, and commitment to continuous improvement in children's social care.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have,

  • Social Work England registration
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Post-qualified experience
  • Degree level or equivalent in Social Work
