SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School, Wallasey
Full-Time | September Start | Temp-to-Perm Opportunity

Hays Education is proudly supporting a welcoming primary school in Wallasey in their search for a compassionate and committed Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant. This long-term role begins in September and offers potential for a permanent contract.

Your Role

You'll work alongside a supportive team to assist pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs, helping them to engage, grow, and succeed in the classroom. Depending on your experience, you may be placed in EYFS, KS1 or KS2, and your day could include:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support
  • Using strategies to support pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or emotional and social difficulties
  • Assisting in creating inclusive learning spaces that promote confidence and progress
  • Collaborating with teachers and the school's SENDCO
  • Supporting pupils' independence and emotional well-being


What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a school environment
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • A caring, patient and proactive approach
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to get one)
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
