Job Title: Mechanical Fitter/ Assembler
Location: Wallsend
Hours: 42 hours (Overtime paid after 38 and weekends)
Rate: £21.50 Days / £23.81 Backs. PAYE
Start:Â 30th June 2025 - Ongoing work
Job Summary:
The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for the assembly of steel structures, mechanical parts/, components, and systems based on engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work with hand and power tools to ensure the accurate and timely completion of assembly tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble mechanical components and systems according to blueprints and technical specifications.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments to align and fit parts accurately.
- Working with Overhead Cranes for lifting standard structures.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure components are assembled correctly and meet standards.
- Identify and report any faulty components or assembly issues to supervisors.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and rework on mechanical assemblies when needed.
- Maintain clean and organised work areas in compliance with safety regulations and safety culture on the yard.
- Follow assembly instructions, company procedures, and production schedules.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure production goals are met.
- Working according to specific method statements
Education & Certifications:
- Certificate or training in mechanical fitting/ assembly required.
Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in mechanical assembly or a similar role (preferred).
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment is an advantage.
- Operating a MEWP / Cherry Picker at height
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and diagrams.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools and mechanical assembly techniques.
- Good communication skills and teamwork.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Physical stamina to lift components and stand for extended periods.
- Able to work at height
