About the RoleWe are working on behalf of a well-established, FCA-regulated SME in the consumer insurance space to recruit a dynamic and experienced Head of Compliance. This is a pivotal leadership role within a fast-evolving business that delivers specialist insurance products.

The organisation is undergoing significant transformation, with a strong focus on enhancing its compliance framework, data governance, and customer journey. As Head of Compliance, you will play a key role in shaping the compliance strategy, managing enterprise risk, and ensuring regulatory alignment across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of a proportionate compliance strategy.
  • Oversee horizon scanning and regulatory change management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster a culture of compliance.
  • Ensure effective governance and risk management frameworks are in place.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Drive initiatives around data protection, cyber security, and information governance.
  • Lead and develop the compliance team, ensuring high standards and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking a confident and capable compliance professional with a strong background in financial services, ideally with experience in the insurance sector. You’ll be a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree-level education or equivalent.
  • Professional qualification in compliance or a related field.
  • Proven experience leading a compliance function within financial services.
  • Knowledge of the insurance and financial advice sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulations, risk management, and governance.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a proactive approach.

Desirable

  • Experience working with regulators.
  • Familiarity with corporate governance frameworks.
  • Project management certification.
  • Proficiency in compliance and risk management tools, Excel, and PowerPoint.
