Are you an experienced and passionate Learning Support Assistant ready for your next exciting challenge? A wonderful Secondary school in Newcastle are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team. You’ll be supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as helping students regain their confidence in the classroom.

About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students with varying additional on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • Implement learning strategies for student that may be distant and hard to engage 
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to create an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage independence, build confidence, and manage behaviour in a positive and supportive way.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEN, particularly Autism. We welcome applicants from outside of education with transferrable skills such as residential childcare workers or carers.
  • Approaches challenges with patience, understanding and empathy
  • Is enthusiastic and proactive in helping young learners succeed.
  • Can build strong relationships with students
  • Holds a valid DBS check (or is happy to obtain one).
