Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer
- Support all phases of mechanical design and project engineering
- Create and manage project plans, drawings, and procurement documentation
- Generate and manage parts lists, RFQs, and purchase orders
- Oversee project procurement, deliveries, and goods-in processes
- Assist during build, testing, and final assembly phases
- Provide technical and administrative support to senior engineers and management
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with engineering processes
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications:
- SVQ/NVQ Level 5, ONC/HNC (Minimum Level 4), or City & Guilds T4/T6 in Mechanical Engineering
- Completed EITB-approved apprenticeship preferred
Experience:
- Ideally 5+ years in a mechanical design or manufacturing environment
- Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles with an analytical and methodical approach
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Project
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software is highly desirable

- Adaptable and well-organised
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Team-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
