Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer

Support all phases of mechanical design and project engineering
Create and manage project plans, drawings, and procurement documentation
Generate and manage parts lists, RFQs, and purchase orders
Oversee project procurement, deliveries, and goods-in processes
Assist during build, testing, and final assembly phases
Provide technical and administrative support to senior engineers and management
Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with engineering processes

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications:

SVQ/NVQ Level 5, ONC/HNC (Minimum Level 4), or City & Guilds T4/T6 in Mechanical Engineering
Completed EITB-approved apprenticeship preferred

Experience:

Ideally 5+ years in a mechanical design or manufacturing environment
Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles with an analytical and methodical approach

Technical Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Project
Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software is highly desirable

Adaptable and well-organised
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Team-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
