Red Sky Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor, providing services across a variety of sectors, including water, transport, energy, and the built environment. We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the team and contribute to the success of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

The Role:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial support to project teams, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, managing subcontract procurement, and maintaining strong relationships with clients. Your focus will be on managing cost efficiency and driving the commercial success of projects ranging from £200k to £10m+. You will play an essential role in managing the financial and contractual aspects of these projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levels.

  • Perform cost management, including forecasting and cash flow reporting.

  • Maintain the monthly CVR, cost, and commercial plans.

  • Ensure internal commercial processes are adhered to, seeking improvements where necessary.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.

  • Manage subcontract letting, negotiations, and financial accounting.

  • Prepare applications for payment and liaise with clients on commercial matters, including variations and claims.

  • Support site teams to ensure predicted spend and cash recovery are aligned with targets.

  • Share best practices and advise site teams on cost management.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in the construction industry.

  • HND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying.

  • Familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and understanding of Construction Law.

  • Experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors.

  • Strong knowledge of monthly reporting, earned value analysis, and cost analysis.

  • Excellent communication, numerical, and computer literacy skills, proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Desirable:

  • Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards.

  • CSCS card.
