Senior Practitioner - Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) - Walsall CouncilMake a significant impact on the lives of individuals with mental health needs.Walsall Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Practitioner AMHP to join our dedicated Mental Health Team. This crucial role requires a committed professional with expertise in safeguarding and supporting individuals experiencing mental health crises.About the Role:

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of individuals experiencing mental health issues, making informed decisions regarding their care and safety.
  • Prepare and present compelling cases to Mental Health Review Tribunals (MHRT) and other relevant bodies.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues, contributing to best practice within the team.
  • Act as a lead AMHP in complex and challenging cases, often involving crisis situations.
  • Work effectively in collaboration with multi-agency partners (healthcare professionals, police, family members) to ensure the best possible outcomes for service users.
  • Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives, upholding high standards of care.

Requirements:

  • Registered with Social Care England.
  • Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience as a qualified Social Worker. Significant experience as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage complex cases.
  • Commitment to ethical practice and person-centered approaches.
