Opus people solutions on behalf of Walsall Council have an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to join their Childrens Safeguarding Team.

Job Title: Social Worker - Chidlrens Safeguarding
Length of assignment: 3 Months
Hours per week: 37
Hourly rate: 33.30
Location: Walsall Council
Remote/Office based: Hybrid

Responsibilities:

  • A children's safeguarding social worker in Walsall is responsible for protecting children and young people from harm and ensuring their welfare, in line with legal and policy frameworks.
  • Receiving referrals about children who may be at risk, carrying out initial assessments to determine whether there is concern of abuse, neglect or risk, and deciding what further action is needed.
  • Supporting families to understand risks, helping them make changes to protect children. Sometimes working alongside specialist adult practitioners in the "Family Safeguarding" model, which integrates support across both children's and adult services.
  • Working with other services especially via the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) to share information and decide on necessary actions.
  • Maintaining accurate case records, documenting assessments, decisions, supervision notes, monitoring and follow-up actions.
