Fire Alarm Engineer

£33,000 – £40,000 + Bonus/Commission
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Fire Alarm Engineer to join our growing team. This is a dual-role position, ideal for experienced engineers confident in both servicing and small installation works across a variety of fire detection and life safety systems.
You’ll be working across a wide range of client sites, delivering PPM, fault finding, system upgrades, and minor installations, ensuring compliance with BS 5839, client requirements, and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Service & Maintenance
- Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) of addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
- Weekly, monthly, and annual testing to BS 5839-1 standards.
- Fault diagnosis and repairs on fire and life safety systems.
- Accurate completion of logbooks, service reports, and compliance documentation.
Small Works & Installations
- Installation of additional devices (call points, detectors, sounders).
- System upgrades, panel replacements, and minor rewiring tasks.
- Ensuring all works are completed to BS 5839 and BS 7671 standards.
Compliance & Documentation
- Submitting accurate job sheets, commissioning certificates, and as-fitted drawings.
- Providing feedback and recommendations for remedial actions.
Client Interaction
- Effective communication with clients and site personnel.
- Demonstrating system operations when required.
- Maintaining a professional and courteous on-site presence.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience working on fire alarm systems.
- Proficient with systems such as Advanced, Kentec, Apollo, Hochiki, Morley, and wireless systems.
- Good working knowledge of BS 5839-1 and BS 7671.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Based within 45 minutes of Sunbury-on-Thames.
Desirable Qualifications
- FIA units or formal fire alarm training.
- ECS/CSCS card.
- Experience with Morley, Notifier, or other high-end systems.
