Teaching Assistant - Supporting Children with Severe and Complex Learning Difficulties (Ages 2-19)

  • Location: Ware
  • Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time Only
  • Salary: 19,000 - 19,500
  • Contract: 34 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time (43.6 weeks per annum)
  • Hours: 8:45 to 15:45 pm with a 30-minute lunch break, plus one after-school club per week from 15:30 to 17:15.

We are working with a vibrant and inclusive SEN school catering for pupils aged 2-19 with a range of profound, multiple, and complex needs. We are currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the dedicated team, on a full time and permanent basis.



What You'll Do:

  • Support pupils with a wide range of learning, physical, and sensory needs in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering a highly individualised curriculum tailored to each pupil's EHCP

  • Provide personal care, mobility support, and communication assistance as required

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals

  • Promote positive behaviour and social interaction, fostering each child's confidence and independence

  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and wellbeing

  • You will also be expected to participate in the children's swimming lesson's at least once a week


What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally in an education, care or support setting

  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive attitude

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Flexibility and resilience to meet the varied needs of our students

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, or willingness to train) are desirable
