This is a high-impact opportunity to lead energy strategy, regulatory compliance, and decarbonisation across a diverse and meaningful housing portfolio. As the organisation’s principal subject matter expert on energy, you will influence change at every level, helping to improve energy efficiency in thousands of homes while supporting corporate sustainability goals and regulatory obligations.

Your impact will include:

  • Leading the strategic direction for energy generation and use across homes and operations.
  • Managing utility contracts exceeding £5 million in value through effective energy procurement.
  • Driving compliance with upcoming heat network regulations and acting as the key liaison with Ofgem, DESNZ and other regulators.
  • Identifying and delivering carbon reduction, cost-saving and efficiency opportunities across housing assets and the wider supply chain.
  • Supporting the development of sustainable technologies, including renewable energy and EV charging infrastructure across the estate.
  • Leading carbon reporting and footprinting, especially in relation to Scope 3 emissions and social housing supply chains.

What you will bring:

  • A technical degree (such as energy management, engineering or building services), and full membership of a recognised body (e.g. Energy Institute, CIBSE, EMA).
  • Significant experience in a similar role, ideally within housing or property management.
  • A strong track record in leading sustainability initiatives and energy performance improvements in a large or complex organisation.
  • Proven ability to drive commercial value and embed sustainability in long-term housing strategies.
  • Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities of energy management in the social housing sector would be a distinct advantage.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels—from tenants to board members.

This is a pivotal leadership role for someone who wants to combine technical expertise with purpose. As the Energy Lead, you will be helping to tackle fuel poverty, reduce environmental impact, and shape the future of sustainable housing.
