Technical Director - ARB Architect (Nuclear Sector)

We're representing a leading multidisciplinary consultancy who are looking to appoint a Technical Director (ARB Architect) to lead their Nuclear Architecture division.

This is a senior leadership role focused on delivering complex, large-scale projects across the defence sector. The position offers the opportunity to shape design direction, strengthen technical capability and drive excellence across all stages of project delivery.

Responsibilities:

- Lead the design and coordination of major nuclear architecture projects from concept through delivery.
- Embed safety, quality, and technical rigour throughout all design stages.
- Oversee materials selection, technical detailing, and performance specifications.
- Manage and develop a team of architects and technicians, ensuring professional growth and high performance.
- Maintain accuracy, coordination, and consistency across all design outputs.
- Implement efficient digital processes and workflows to optimise design and documentation.
- Build long-term relationships with key clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Contribute to business development and bid activity to support continued growth.
- Manage resources, budgets, and timelines to ensure projects are delivered effectively and commercially.

Requirements:

- ARB-registered Architect with proven leadership experience within the nuclear or other highly regulated sectors.
- Strong background delivering complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Confident communicator with experience managing diverse design teams and external stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of project lifecycles, technical coordination and risk management.
- Capable of driving high standards and clear decision-making within demanding environments.

Desirable:

- Understanding of Nuclear Safety Case processes and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience working with Design & Build contractors or similar delivery models.
- Proven ability to nurture client relationships and contribute to new business opportunities.
