Job Purpose

As our Construction Manager for Rainwater Management, you’ll be at the heart of delivering projects that reduce spills and flooding while bringing new environmental benefits to the region.

From sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and natural flood management to sewer disconnections, attenuation systems, and product installations, you’ll lead the onsite delivery of innovative solutions that shape a greener future.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Acting as our key on-site representative, making sure contractors deliver safely, on time, and to budget.

  • Leading construction on a variety of projects  from urban landscaping to rural flood defences that bring real benefits to our communities and environment.

  • Collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and contractors to deliver the best outcomes.

  • Promoting a culture of safety and excellence, ensuring all work meetsCDM requirements and industry best practice.

  • Supervising contractors under NEC contracts, monitoring compliance and performance.

  • Managing site risks, resolving issues quickly, and keeping projects on track.

  • Reviewing and approving plans, schedules, and safety documentation to keep everything running smoothly.

  • Acting as the go-to contact for customers and stakeholders during construction.

  • Overseeing handovers and defect resolution to ensure projects are completed to the highest standard.

  • Securing and managing all necessary permits and approvals.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of rainwater and surface water management systems (e.g. SuDS, attenuation systems, infiltration basins, disconnections).

  • Knowledge of UK water industry standards and environmental regulations (e.g. CIRIA SuDS Manual, EA guidance).

  • Proven leadership in delivering construction projects — ideally nature-based solutions, landscape, or network projects.

  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with local authorities, landowners, the public, internal teams, contractors, and supply chain partners.

  • Ability to manage expectations, resolve disputes, and adapt to unforeseen site conditions or design changes.

  • Experience in contract management, including budgets, value engineering, and contractor claims.

  • Understanding of environmental constraints (e.g. flood zones, ecology, groundwater protection).

  • Experience in site SHE inspections, audits, and incident investigations.

  • A genuine passion for delivering Rainwater Management and innovative green/blue solutions.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Educated to degree or HND level or equivalent industry experience and ideally working toward being professionally qualified (e.g. CEng, MCIOB, MICE, and MCIWEM)
  • CITB Site Management Safety Training scheme or equivalent
  • NEC3/4 Accredited Supervisor or demonstrable working knowledge
