Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a single-form entry primary school in Warrington as they require an experienced and qualified teaching assistant to support a new pupil within the reception class that will be starting in September. This pupil has SEN and an EHCP and will require 1:1 support on a full-time basis. Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school you will be supporting a child within the reception class on 1:1 basis as they have SEN. This pupil has a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal. This pupil is extremely loving and caring but at times will present challenging behaviours. This is not a personal attack but how they would communicate if they are upset, triggered or over stimulated. You will support them throughout the school day, ensuring that all learning material and activities are inclusive and accessible for your pupil by adapting the curriculum and equipment to their needs. You will supporting with basic speech and language interventions and integrate them into new pupil groups to promote their social and emotional development, and use sensory therapy as they best respond to this. You will also be required to implement an array of other positive behaviour strategies, such as traffic light systems, bucket therapy, and reward charts. What you'll need to succeedTo be considered for this exciting full-time temporary contract, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, be at least Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualified, and:

  • Have relevant referenceable experience within a classroom environment
  • Experience supporting SEN, ASD and/or non-verbal is preferred
