Lead EC&I Engineer

Location:Warrington

Permanent Position

As a Lead EC&I Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering innovative, multi-discipline projects. You'll be part of a forward-thinking engineering team, working on some of the UK's most exciting and complex projects.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Lead EC&I Engineer you'll lead a team of engineers and designers, taking full ownership of the Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) design across a range of projects. These projects span the full lifecycle-from concept through to commissioning-and cover developments across sectors such as oil & gas, nuclear, energy, etc. You'll act as the technical authority for EC&I, supporting the Engineering Manager in achieving business goals. While most projects are UK-based, you'll also have the opportunity to contribute to international work across Europe and beyond.

Your responsibilities will include managing budgets, schedules, and change control processes, ensuring seamless integration of EC&I with other disciplines such as mechanical, civil, structural, process, and automation. You'll be client-facing, leading design reviews, ensuring quality standards are met, and securing client approval for your team's work. Depending on project size, you may lead a single major project or oversee a portfolio.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking an experienced Lead EC&I Engineer who thrives in a multi-discipline environment. You'll have a strong background in engineering or EPCM/EPC projects, ideally within sectors like energy, chemicals, or nuclear. You've likely acted as a technical authority or line manager and bring a deep understanding of EC&I design, along with a working knowledge of related disciplines.

You'll hold a BEng or MEng in EC&I Engineering. TUV certification and familiarity with key standards (such as 7671, 7430, 61508, 61511, ATEX, DSEAR, LV, and HV) are highly desirable.

You're confident producing specifications, scopes of work, calculations, drawings, and schedules. You're also proficient in tools like AMTECH, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, Dialux, and Microsoft Office.

Beyond technical skills, you're a natural leader-capable of motivating your team, managing change, and identifying growth opportunities. You enjoy mentoring junior engineers and take pride in developing the next generation of EC&I talent.
