A leading nuclear organisation in the UK is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a prestigious and high-profile project within the nuclear and defence sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer to contribute to the development of critical systems on a significant project.

  • Senior Mechanical Engineer - Nuclear/Defence Sector
  • Location: Warrington (3 days per week)
  • Contract Length: 12 Months
  • Rate: £52-£60 per hour based on years experience (Inside IR35)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert technical support within specialist design areas, ensuring adherence to project deadlines and objectives.
  • Review and approve technical documents, designs, calculations, analyses, drawings, and models, ensuring that they meet the highest standards for design documents and technical reports.
  • Make key engineering decisions from both a project and technical standpoint, ensuring alignment with overall project goals.
  • Act as the Technical Authority or Lead Mechanical Engineer when required, demonstrating strong leadership within the project team.
  • Manage all changes within the project scope, ensuring they are assessed and implemented in line with the project's technical requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering procedures, codes, and standards throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Expected Qualifications:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline).
  • Significant experience working within highly regulated environments, particularly in the nuclear sector, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven experience handling a range of complex engineering tasks, from concept to delivery.
  • Strong track record in managing engineering scope and ensuring quality delivery across all project phases.
  • Chartered Engineer status is preferred, but not essential.
  • Active UK security clearance is required for this role.
