We're currently working with a leading UK retail business -an instantly recognisable high street brand with a footprint of over 1,300 stores nationwide - to support them in their search for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor!
Reporting into the Head of Retail Health & Safety, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-profile, fast-paced organisation that is passionate about compliance, safety, and creating a strong safety culture across its entire retail estate.
As the Health and Safety Advisor, you'll play a key role in supporting retail teams, ensuring operations meet all legislative and regulatory health and safety standards. You will be responsible for maintaining and evolving the company's health and safety framework across more than 1,300 sites, while promoting a proactive, safety-first mindset at all levels of the business.
This is a dynamic and highly visible role requiring excellent organisational and communication skills, along with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974)
- Contribute to strategies, policies, and procedures to mitigate workplace hazards
- Lead Health & Safety audit activity and follow-up
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, reporting RIDDORs as necessary
- Maintain and develop safety management systems including risk assessments and safety policies
- Deliver training and guidance to retail and engineering teams
- Liaise with local authorities and act as a key contact for external bodies
- Monitor and report on trends to improve safety performance across the business
We're looking for someone who's not only qualified but passionate about safety and well-being. You'll need to be a proactive, engaging communicator who can balance compliance with a practical, solutions-based approach.
YOU?
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety Advisor role, ideally in a fast-paced or retail environment
- Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulatory frameworks
- NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)
- IOSH Membership (desirable)
- A confident, analytical mindset with the ability to write clear policies and reports
- Experience delivering safety training and building stakeholder engagement
- A flexible attitude and willingness to travel regularly across the UK retail estate
