Are you ready to lead the design of complex mechanical systems in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment? We're looking for a Mechanical Design Manager to take ownership of engineering delivery, guide a talented team, and ensure excellence from concept through to manufacture.

The Mechanical Design Manager OpportunityThis is a leadership role with real impact. You'll be responsible for managing a team of up to 10 engineers, overseeing the full design lifecycle, and ensuring that every solution is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. You'll work across a variety of high-value projects, applying your expertise in FEED and Design for Manufacture to deliver results that matter.

What You'll Be Doing as Mechanical Design Manager

  • Leading mechanical design activities across multiple concurrent projects
  • Managing and mentoring a team of engineers, supporting their development
  • Acting as a technical authority and ensuring design integrity
  • Driving innovation and continuous improvement in design processes
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Supporting strategic planning and engineering governance

What You'll Bring

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (MEng/MSc/PhD preferred)
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it)
  • Prior experience as a Mechanical Design Manager, Technical Manager, Engineering Manager or Principal Engineer with Line Management experience
  • Strong background in bespoke mechanical systems or machinery, high-integrity equipment, or complex assemblies
  • Proven experience in FEED and Design for Manufacture
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
