The Registered Manager will have responsibility for the direct management of the children / young people and the management of the staff teams that support these children / young people to ensure that the highest standards of care is in place. To meet and promote the needs of the children / young people and provide opportunities to advance their opportunities and life experience in a positive manner. They will lead in the recruitment, maintenance and development of the staffing team. In addition to ensuring the home is run in line with company policy and will hold responsibility to quality assure that care is delivered against The Childrens Regulations and Quality Standards to meet all of Ofsteds requirements. The Registered Manager will undertake a wide range of duties which will involve some direct and indirect care of children whom have learning disabilities within Courtyard Care Ltd homes. They will be expected to work some shifts and work flexibly to meet the needs of the children and fulfil all health and safety requirements. They will provide part of the on call service for the childrens homes alongside the management team and will have allocated on call days for which they are responsible. Although this job description is quite concise it is not exhaustive and maybe subject to change. Role and Function: To act as Registered Manager and assist the management team in giving the highest standard of care possible to all the children/young people at Courtyard Care Ltd. 1. To assess and evaluate suitability of new referrals understanding the importance of the need for confidentiality in all client matters. 2. To take responsibility in ensuring the running of the home is to its highest possible standard, coordinating the running of the home, delegating duties appropriately Page 2 of 9 CCL-RegMan-Oct21-LGH 3. To hold operational responsibility for ensuring all relevant policies, procedures and good practice arrangements are in place to meet the Childrens Regulations and Quality Standards. 4. Manage and report on delegated budget expenditure and income. Ensure correct expenditure of petty cash, pocket money and clothing allowance takes place and accurate up to date records are kept and audited. 5. Develop and implement appropriate quality assurance systems that monitor and record the quality of care for children / young people and action any required improvements, this will include but not be limited to, regulatory monitoring, inspection questionnaires and ensuring the completion of audit actions to ensure inspection levels/ratings are maintained. 6. To report to external agencies in line with requirements and legislation. Demonstrate an awareness of current government legislation and apply this to the running of the home. 7. To act as a role model in conjunction with colleagues to ensure yours and their welfare and create a safe, clean and secure environment for all children/young people and relatives, in addition to create a" lead by example" approach to staff. Adopt a forward thinking approach, with a "can do "attitude that problem solves. 8. To work in a variety of settings if needed, in order to support the needs of the company. 9. Deliver leadership to the team that promotes a culture of open and participatory management/practice delivering excellent care services. To promote a transparent environment across Courtyard Care Ltd. 10. To work in conjunction with the management team to line manage, monitor, support and supervise a children / young people caseload and the staff team to ensure the highest standard of care is delivered at all times. 11. Plan efficient use of staff resources through accurate staff rota and staff management details that meet the needs of children / young people. This will include preparing advanced 4-6 weekly rota, planning and detailing any leave of absence and ensuring staff cover is at the relevant level. All information is kept up to date and accurate including sickness and holidays. 12. Direct and support Team Leaders with regularly undertaking supervisions, appraisals, regular team meetings, professional reviews, development of staff and carrying out performance management meetings as and when required. Ensure a well-motivated, highly driven team that creates a productive approach to working 13. To develop and foster positive working relationships and effective communication links with children / young people, families, social workers, advocates and all relevant professionals and other external agencies. To liaise with and be the primary contact for families and other professionals for each child / young person for whom s/he has responsibility as a Registered Manager. Be organised, flexible and have excellent time management skills. 14. To arrange a keyworker for each child / young person in line with legislation around the keyworker role. 15. Prepare reports; arrange suitable attendance for all meetings internal and external in line with legislation. At all times being an advocate for the child / young person and to ensure Page 3 of 9 CCL-RegMan-Oct21-LGH all relevant information is available and accessible at all times. As the Registered Manager take responsibility to ensure that collating and preparing management information and reports are completed in a timely manner. 16. Select, recruit and retain staff of the highest calibre to ensure a safe, nurturing and positive working environment that delivers quality care services. 17. To prepare and administer prescribed medication including PRN. To ensure adequate supply of medication is kept in stock and to maintain, complete accurate records, medical notes and complete weekly medication audits. To arrange and ensure attendance at all medical, dental and other required health appointments.
