Job Overview:We are seeking a skilled and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Inpatient Surgical & Respiratory Therapy Team within an acute NHS medical setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality therapy services to patients with surgical and respiratory conditions, supporting their recovery and promoting independence during their inpatient stay.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver comprehensive assessments and treatment plans for patients within the acute surgical and respiratory wards

Provide goal-oriented, evidence-based interventions tailored to individual patient needs

Facilitate safe and effective discharge planning in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team

Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary

Work closely with physiotherapists, nurses, consultants, and discharge coordinators to ensure integrated care

Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with NHS standards

Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives

Support junior staff and students through supervision and guidance where appropriate
Key Requirements:

HCPC registered Occupational Therapist
-
Minimum of 6 months NHS experience

Proven experience working in an acute inpatient setting, preferably within surgical or respiratory teams

Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and treatment planning skills

Excellent communication and teamworking abilities

Confident in managing a varied caseload in a fast-paced hospital environment
