A leading housing contractor have an opportunity for a Senior Planning Manager to join their team.

The role

The Senior Planning Manager will hold the main responsibility for achieving planning permissions on all sites within the Business Unit. You will assist the Land team with securing planning consents on new sites where a Subject to Planning land purchase has been agreed. You will also be involved with assisting the land team appraise incoming land opportunities from a planning policy perspective. The role will also cover the progression of secured schemes with outline planning permission through to Reserved Matters and replans on existing large-scale schemes where needed.

Duties and responsibilities:

" Progress and deliver the planning and preconstruction elements of new projects.
" Appoint and manage consultant teams for development schemes including leading planning applications at outline, detailed and reserved matters stage e.g. architects, engineers, to produce scheme specific information and ensure the timely submission of schemes to the appropriate planning authority and statutory bodies in line with agreed timescales.
" Procure suitable supporting information e.g. surveys, reports, assessments etc. required to support the planning process and enable sufficient pre-delivery planning/design.
" Support and coordinate the acquisition of land opportunities from public and private sector land sources developing a detailed knowledge of development and partnership opportunities and competitor activity within the region.
" Establish and maintain working relationships with local authorities, local agents, landowners and Registered providers and potential JV partners to promote the business
" Implement all internal procedures involved in investigating, reporting and ultimately purchasing land and obtaining planning consent.
" Work with the technical team to ensure pre-commencement conditions are minimised prior to decision notice and that the discharge of conditions is addressed early
" Follow the internal development process, ensuring all systems including 4Projects are maintained with accurate information at all times.

Skills & Experience required:

" Experience in a planning or development role within the construction, property development or housing industry.
" Experience of leading planning applications on large strategic development sites
" Experience in liaising and negotiating with a wide range of individuals and organisations including professional consultants, local authorities, Registered Providers/Clients involved in the development process
" Excellent knowledge of the planning system and development process, design and technical issues relevant to house building and affordable housing contracts
" Ideally RTPI, MCIOB and/or RICS qualified
" Proven ability to deliver viable planning consents including on larger phased sites.
" Ability to communicate well with individuals at all levels and positively motivate teams and individuals to deliver
