Senior Quantity Surveyor (Residential Groundworks)

Salary: Up to £65,000 plus package (Negotiable DOE)

We’re working in partnership with a leading groundworks & civils contractor, who are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. The company are a specialist groundworks contractor delivering full groundworks packages for residential developments, they work with major housebuilders and leading contractors, delivering projects throughout the UK.

As Senior QS, you’ll ensure projects are commercially controlled and profitable, playing a pivotal role in delivering high-quality residential developments from the ground up.

The role

  • You will hold commercial responsibility for a portfolio of live housing groundworks projects.
  • Manage the full commercial lifecycle: tendering, procurement, cost control, interim valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Prepare bills of quantities, cost plans, subcontract enquiries and material schedules.
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts and cash flow; identify and report commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Negotiate and manage subcontractor contracts and supplier agreements.
  • Liaise with clients and internal teams to ensure clear scope and contract terms.
  • Mentor and support junior commercial team members where required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years’ QS experience, ideally with direct exposure to groundworks, civils or residential infrastructure packages.
  • Good working knowledge of construction contract forms (JCT, NEC or equivalent) and subcontract procurement.
  • Strong commercial judgement and analytical skills.
  • Proactive, detail-focused and able to manage multiple live projects.
