The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team, based from the Warrington office. You will take full post-contract commercial responsibility for multiple projects, ensuring robust cost control, proactive risk management and strong financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.



As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  • Full post-contract commercial management, proactively identifying, managing and mitigating risks to protect and enhance project margins

  • Managing the procurement of materials and subcontract packages, including preparing detailed enquiry packs, tender analysis, commercial negotiations and subcontract award

  • Contract administration across a range of work packages on projects up to 6m in value

  • Managing variations, RFIs and change control, ensuring accurate valuation and timely agreement

  • Leading final account negotiations to achieve prompt and favourable settlements

  • Preparing applications for payment, monthly valuations and Value/Cost Reconciliation (VCR) reports

  • Producing accurate and timely financial reports for senior management and clients

  • Building and maintaining strong client, consultant and stakeholder relationships, providing clear commercial advice throughout



The Ideal Candidate

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within a main contracting environment

  • Proven experience delivering projects across Education, Retail, Leisure and Residential sectors

  • A BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)

  • RICS membership (or working towards) is desirable

  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, commercial management and cost control

  • Excellent analytical, numerical and reporting skills, with experience using cost management and estimating software

  • A proactive, organised and detail-driven approach with strong negotiation and communication skills

  • A sound understanding of construction law and building regulations
